30th June Programme Event No. 12 The Festival Takes to the Streets All events on this page are FREE The Main Event - FREE Ceilidh in the Community Hall 8.00pm – 11.00pm. Everyone is welcome to this knees-up and general celebration. Come and join the party! Warm up with Ledbury favourites The Tree Frogs then join in the dancing at a traditional Irish Ceilidh with Silver Branch. This joyful music is guaranteed to get your feet tapping and your spirits soaring. There will be fiddles, uilleann pipes, mandola, dulcimer, whistles and callers to guide you. No experience is needed, non-dancers welcome to watch and enjoy the spectacle. This will be a great fun, family event. There will be ploughman suppers and drinks available. Sponsored by Ledbury businesses Altered Books at Icebytes, 11.00am – 4.00pm Drop in and create an Altered Book choosing from a variety of poetry books and art materials. You take a book, you draw on it, you stick things onto it, you tear bits out of it and most of all you have fun with it! Don’t be shy, books don’t bite. Banned from libraries up and down the country, artist Jeanette McCulloch and poet Graham Hartill will show you how. As the climax to the Altered Book project there will also be an exhibition of altered books created by members of the community. The Anomalies 3.00pm onwards The Anomalies are a group of musical minds who create their sound using influences from swing and big band to reggae and old school hip hop. They are working with students at John Masefield High School to produce this electric performance of poetry and music. Circus Fudge, staring daredevil stuntman Mick Chapman 5.00pm and 7.00pm, near the Market House Washing machines that play music, human cannons that don’t, and the legendary Ironing Board Of Death all feature in this explosive kaleidoscope of circus, music and comedy. Sponsored by The Becket Bulmer Charitable Trust Mike Kingham’s Allstars at Wyatt’s Home and Garden, 6.00pm – 7.00pm Come and chat, listen and drink as Michael Kingham delves into his legendary collection of rare jazz and swing classics on 78rpm records played on his old gramophone. Sponsored by Wyatt's Home & Garden Sally Crabtree and her Poetree All day, everywhere Pick something off the magical copper ‘poetree’ and listen to the song or poem it inspires. Dip your hand into the Handbag of Happiness, taste edible words, create a poetic objet d’art or take a peek into Sally’s poetry bazaar! Look out for other street performances! Matthew Black, half-man half-poet and his Poetry Jukebox, 11.00am – 3.00pm Children love the mysterious Wizard in his Jukebox and the mix of amusing and challenging poems. This Wizard encourages children, and even adults, to discover poems by a range of authors and to write their own. Poems Al Fresco at Matt Sweet’s Sandwich Bar Fox Yard Lunchtime.
